Hi,
what is the price range to rent an apartment in moldova? nothing fancy, just the basics. i have found no information on the internet. every site just seems to be either ads or zero listings. i suppose its a lot easier to find something once youre there right?
what about cost of living per day. is there a lot of commercial property available too?

Hi. I am not sure but I think the cost of an average apartment is like 1500-2000 lei (1 pound is worth about 18 lei, one euro is like 16 or something). In terms of the cost of living, food is generally a lot cheaper depending on what you’re buying. Although it’s not unheard of to find bottles of trashy own-brand olive oil costing 350 lei.
Clothes are really really expensive even by western standards and you’re better off not shopping in any shop for them, but just going to second hand markets. Good luck though

I am just starting my plans to visit several places in Ukraine, Moldava, and Romania where my grandparents and great grandparents were born. They arrived in Louisville Kentucky, USA between 1885 and 1910. I know the towns where they tey are from but little more. I would like to visit archives, synogogues and Jewish cemetaries, if possible. Any suggestions? Advance planning? Guides with knowledge of Jewish history?

In our Alexandreni village, Singerei district is a Jewish cemetarie. It was a Jewish and a polish village.
